India’s only glamorous and gorgeous singer, performer and actor, MTV’s hottest and most popular female VJ Sophie was discovered by the acclaimed music director Biddu when she was 13-years old. Having made her debut in 2000 with her all girl band Sansara with hit songs like Habibi and Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai, Sophie went solo exactly a year later and has not looked back since. Her superhit songs include chartbusters like “Mera Babu Chail Chabila”, “Jaadugar Saiyyan” and of course the super duper hit “Ek Pardesi Mera Dil Le gaya”, one of the highest selling remix albums to date!

The fact that in October 2004 she won the Lycra MTV style award for “Most stylish female in music’ just goes to show that Sophie arrived! Followed by the Bollywood award for Best pop Singer female, at the Bollywood Awards held in Dubai Global Village in January 2005 and the Bollywood Music Awards in 2006 in Atlantic City!

The latest feather in her cap is that she made her Hindi Film Debut in David Dhawan’s film ‘ Shaadi No.1’ in which she was paired opposite India’s heartthrob, Zayed Khan. Followed by the superhit Pyar ke Side Effects’ co-starring Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat. Sophie has had an overwhelming response as “Tanya aka Babygirl volume 3”. Both critics and Audiences fell in love with her!

Sophie also featured in the superhit “Heyy baby" last year in the very popular and sexy title track and made news with her role in Vikram Bhatt’s “Speed” by doing all her own stunts and cable work even though a stunt double was offered. Even in her villanous role opposite Aftab shivdasani Sophie left a mark and all the critics praised her effort.

Talks are currently on for a few more films; namely a comedy and a thriller in Bollywood and 2 Indo-British projects. In 2009 Sophie will be seen in one of the leading roles in Indra Kumar’s laugh riot “Daddy Cool”. In 2008 she was seen in Sanjay Gadhvi’s Sanjay Dutt starrer “Kidnap” in which she performed her very first Item song along with superstar Sanjay Dutt! Sophie is also starring in a leading role in acclaimed director Sanjay Gupta’s forthcoming and much awaited project “ALIBAUG” and is currently shooting for “Aa Dekhein Zara” in which she stars along with Neil Mukesh and Bipasha Basu!

Sophie next album is also due for release this year. The recording has taken place in London, Dubai and Mumbai and Sophie is the Executive Producer of her own album in which she has collaborated with the very famous and chart topping Rishi Rich, Biddu, Bappa Lahiri and others. Each song is an original and Sophie believes this album truly represents her unique style. The album comprises of young, feel good, hip hop style, Arabic, even English dance-electro and hindi dance numbers, since she is extremely popular for her dancing ability as well. Sophie is currently working on adding an extra song to her album with Gaurav Dasgupta who scored the hit music of Dus Kahaniyan, where they are experimenting with a dance-rock kind of feel.
